About NSS
The NSS wing in BCET was inaugurated on 9th Sept. 2006 and it has become well known in Durgapur so soon.
 
Regular Activities
Preparation of Blood Group Data Bank : The volunteers prepared a blood group data bank of almost 1000 people including faculties, students and staff. This data bank will be updated regularly.
Blood Donation : The volunteers donate blood if any needy person approaches to the wing officially, e.g. on 9 th Sep. 2006 Mr. Rahul Pratap Singh and Mr. Tarun Kr. Singh, two students of BCET, saved 12 year old Miss. Tapasy Mohanty, suffering from severe chronic aneamia, by donating 2 units of rare AB- blood in the Sub-Divisional Hospital,Durgapur. •  To integrate the academic programs with practical knowledge and co-curricular activities so as     to promote the intellectual growth of the students.
Awareness Camps : From 16th to 19th Sept. 2006 the volunteers were engaged in an Awareness Camp at Arrah (a small village near Durgapur). The student volunteers were involved in cleaning activities, spraying DDT, plantation programme, awareness camp on AIDS, performing roadside skitts on different social problems, workshops on the process of preparing 'Bindi' and 'Papad' for women, organizing sports for the children, literacy programme, free medical checkup and distribution of medicines etc.
Proposed Activities
•  Organizing the Awareness Camps, especially on AIDS because The Ministry of Human      Resourse and Development, India, has set up a goal for the coming three years and that is      YUVA (Youth United for Victory on AIDS), more frequently.
•    Giving technical support to the needy physically disabled persons.
•    Organizing Blood Donation Camps.
•    Plantation Programmes.
•    Literacy Programmes.
•    Organizing Seminars on Health and Hygiene in remote villages.
